Welcome to my web site about actor Peter Strauss!
Creating this site, is truly a labor of love, and
admiration, for a man who has long been one of the
most respected and principled actors in America.
Now, proving himself to be a concerned citizen, as
well as an involved environmentalist, he is known as
not only a sterling example of an artist; but as a
exemplary citizen of the United States, and the world.

There is not a great deal of information about Mr. Strauss available on the internet which, if is his wish, is understandable, and to be respected.
But long-time fans are well-acquainted with his talent.
I still remember his appearance on the old "Mary Tyler Moore" show,
in the '70's, when he played the "extra guest" at the dinner party Mary threw in her tiny apartment!

Here are some videos, showcasing a few performances:

Peter Strauss was born February 20, 1947,
in the village of  Croton-on-the-Hudson, New York.
Strauss was focused on acting from an early age and appeared in productions of "As You Like It" and "Romeo and Juliet" with the Croton Shakespeare Festival while still a teenager. He also worked in summer stock while attending Northwestern University's famed acting program.
Upon graduation and starting his acting career, he
moved to the West Coast, married, and had two sons.
An environmentalist as well as an actor, he was deeply moved by the natural beauty of the Santa Monica Mountains while filming the mini-series "Rich Man, Poor Man" at Malibu Lake, CA, in 1976. He purchased the property, and restored the site to its original splendor.  Due to his sensitivity and concern for the natural environment, Strauss sold the ranch to the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy. The National Park Service purchased the ranch in 1987 as part of Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, dedicated to the preservation of our natural and cultural history.
He currently lives in Ojai, California, and serves on community committees including the Ojai Youth Foundation, the Ojai Music Festival, and the Ojai Film Society.
He made his Broadway debut in Tom Griffin's "Einstein and the Polar Bear" in 1981. His other theatrical credits include the plays "The Dance Next Door", "The Mind with the Dirty Man" and "The Trial of the Catonsville Nine" at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles and "A Cry of Players" at Baltimore's Centre Stage.
